Cynthia Greenburg-Dunlop
Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT #131801
As a therapist who deeply cares about my clients and wants the best for them, I like people to know from the onset with whom I work best. It's simple: I work best with intelligent, verbal clients who want to do the work. What I bring to the table is being that person who is fully dedicated to you and your experience. We do this together. The possibilities of what this therapeutic relationship can bring is actually pretty vast. I am often privy to incredibly special moments in which my clients experience profound insight, true self-compassion, and the feeling of being deeply understood. The strength and inspiration that can result has the benefit of bringing forth real change in one's life.
I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist whose approach to therapy combines doing deep work that:
•Inspires positive growth in your life
•Helps to assess the external and internal factors that might be more manageable than you think
•Increases your mindfulness to develop awareness regarding your patterns
•Expands the self-knowledge needed so you can take actions that truly match your values
I do see many different clients with a variety of concerns. So even if you do not fit neatly in the categories below you still might see something that resonates with you.
Grief
The painful process of grief contains anguish, anger, confusion, and profound sadness. With me, you get to have time that is just for you -- a safe space to remember, to explain, to tell your story and theirs. Within the grief process, with the pain there can also be beauty, poignancy, growth, humor and the potential for a deeper understanding of life and your purpose moving forward. Even though it's different now, and this loss will always matter, you can feel good again. It is amazing what can happen when you feel heard.
Writers and Artists
Being creative effects anything and everything in beautiful ways and in hard ways. How you get to take care of yourself, be heard, and feel more understood is where I come in. I'm here to support, to listen, and to offer perspective shifts and practical tools that have the potential not only to help you feel better but to thrive. The challenge of being creative, especially if that is what you've also chosen as a career, can be very challenging. My clients run the gamut whether they're experiencing entertainment industry trauma, great success that is hard to navigate, or creative blocks that are affecting their self-concept. By fostering self-compassion, confidence and inspiration a positive outcome can be achieved. Some extra care and attention by someone who understands your struggles cannot be minimized. Be understood and let's see how far you can go.
Couples
There are many reasons to seek couples counseling. You might be angry at your partner or lonely in your relationship. Maybe you feel let down, disappointed, hurt. Perhaps you both approach parenting differently or you're dealing with the stress of trying to get pregnant. Whatever is bringing you in at this point, it does help to have a therapist listen, find out what's going on, and help you feel that there is a better reality for your relationship. Not only do I offer skills and tools that can help change patterns and shift perspectives, I offer a place where you have the opportunity to really feel heard and try to understand each other better. I work with a diverse clientele and see couples who one or both of whom are in recovery (12-step or otherwise), in addition to those who identify as queer, part of the LGBTQI community, and who are heteronormative.
Evening and Saturday appointments now available.
